Safeguarding 2 – Club Children’s Officer (CCO) Workshop
In line with our ongoing commitment to supporting our clubs in the critical area of Child Safeguarding, we are now planning a couple of Workshops (with certification) for Club Children’s Officers.
A Club Children’s Officer should be child-centred in focus and have as the primary aim the establishment of a child-centred ethos within the club. S/He is the link between the children and the adults in the club. S/He also takes responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy impacts on young people and Sports Leaders.
A person appointed to the Club Children’s Officer position in a club must have completed the Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness workshop and should complete this Club Children’s Officer 3-hour Training Course.
This course will be delivered by Jim Bennett (Chair, Cricket Leinster Child Safeguarding Committee) and will help the Club Children’s Officer to carry out the function of their role in the club and support the implementation of best practice in the club.
These Safeguarding 2 workshops will take place on the following dates:
- Wednesday 13th March (at Rush CC, Kenure) - 7.00pm to 10.00pm
- Wednesday 20th March (at Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan) - 7.00pm to 10.00pm
Each club is asked to please register for one of these dates by Friday 22nd February 2019 - to register, please e-mail:
Numbers on each workshop are limited so early registration is essential, and a waiting list will be maintained if the maximum number is exceeded.
