CL Women’s & Girl’s Development Officer - Job Advert
Cricket Leinster wish to appoint a Community Development Officer to manage and deliver Women and Girl's programmes across the province as part of our strategic focus to grow and develop Women & Girl’s Cricket.
Our strategic objective/target is to grow Women’s Cricket participation to 50% more teams (22 to 30+) and 50% more participating clubs (12 to 20+).
We are very appreciative of the support from Cricket Ireland in funding this strategically important role.
The Officer will provide community based cricketing opportunities, both competitive and coaching, for Women and Girls. The Development Officer will use the power of cricket as a tool for change; increasing confidence, communication, leadership and enjoyment in cricket and physical activity.
This new and exciting role seeks an energetic and enthusiastic individual who has a passion for supporting and developing people, and working with multiple clubs and organisations. The role combines coaching and development work and will be responsible for engaging women and girl's across Leinster into becoming active members of local cricket hubs or clubs.
You will need to be passionate about, and committed to, cricket development at a local level and for this role, it would be an advantage (although not a requirement) if you have experience of cricket/sports development at a grassroots level coupled with a sound knowledge, appreciation and understanding of the game.
Candidates must demonstrate both team working skills and the ability to work unsupervised using their own initiative. You will be a self-starter with energy and enthusiasm together with good administration and organisational skills. Equally you will be an excellent communicator with a passion for the development of cricket/sport for young people.

Job Description: Women & Girls Development Officer
Closing date: 10.00am Monday 21st January 2019

The role involves the following activities;
- To devise and implement strategies for the development of Women’s and Girls cricket within Cricket Leinster.
- To be the main point of contact for Women and Girls cricket in Leinster (participation & growth).
- To deliver cricket sessions in targeted schools, clubs and other appropriate groups to promote the transition of girls to local cricket clubs.
- Work with Clubs to provide ‘on the ground’ support to help engage more women and girls in cricket, plus identify, support and develop female club coaches.
- Work with non-traditional partners to establish new markets for the Women and Girls game – in particular clubs which are new to Women & Girl’s cricket.
- Plan, organise and assist in coaching at all levels, including underage girls provincial sessions (where required).
- Provide regular reports and recommendations on the continuing development and promotion of Women’s and Girl’s cricket.
- Provide such assistance as may be required by Cricket Leinster in the support of Leinster teams at under age or other levels and which may involve accompanying Leinster under age teams both within Ireland and abroad.
- Assist in the development of player/coach programmes as required.
- Attend and assist (as required) in regional seminars, education workshops and events.
- Provide reports as required on the on-going development of the programme.
- Maintain effective relationships with existing Community Development Officers within the various cricket programmes and those members of other organisations or volunteers who are contributing to those programmes.
Grow Female Participation
- Coordinate and deliver fun and progressive cricket programmes and other cricket promotional events to schools and clubs.
- Co-ordinate, promote, deliver and review national development/participation programmes within the school and club environments.
- Develop, implement and review opportunities for schools to be introduced to the game of cricket across the region.
- To increase the number of female junior and youth cricketers regularly participating within schools and clubs.
- Plan, deliver and review modified games with festival days in school environment
- Support Girls Schools with new initiatives and provide coaching assistance within the school environment
- Establish a comprehensive database of female cricketers.
Develop a sustainable Female Player Pathway
- Plan, deliver and review Cricket Leinster’s Junior and Youth Pathway programmes into Schools.
- Develop safe and progressive cricket environments to encourage player retention.
- Lead programmes through the provision of coaching and coaches/resources.
- To coordinate and promote the delivery of coach education courses in Schools and Clubs as appropriate.
- Plan, promote, deliver and review regional hub programmes for girls.
- Support the delivery of the girls only competitions.
- Implement retention and growth strategies in line with focus areas of National and Provincial Union strategies.
- Plan, promote, deliver and review effective holiday programmes and/or support Clubs to deliver.
- Support Clubs to deliver Girls festivals/blitz events ensuring effective school-club links are being developed.
- Support Clubs to deliver Girls junior participation programmes during school holidays with emphasis on effective school-clubs links
- Support Clubs to develop appropriate Girls Junior sections in conjunction with other staff and volunteers with emphasis on effective school-club links.
Ideal Experience & Skills Required
- Proven track record of coaching experience at relevant level (not necessarily at cricket)
- Full Driving Licence with access to their own transport
Contract Term & Remuneration
Please note that applicants must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland. This appointment is for an initial 12-month full-time contract commencing as soon as possible with a salary commensurate with the criticality of this position.
