Strength & Conditioning Workshop - CICA
Message to all coaches from: Michael Hingston, Cricket Ireland Coach Development Manager. (Reply email to: michael.hingston@ cricketireland.ie)
Over the last number of years, with developments in Sports Science, S&C has become more important in how we physically prepare and develop our players pre-competition, during competition and post competition. We aim to make this workshop as cricket-specific as possible with Cricket Ireland’s S&C coaches leading it, which will hopefully give you some food for thought and new ideas for your own coaching. Topics that we aim to cover are:
- Warm ups and cool downs
- Functional movement
- S&C exercises
- Utilising simple equipment like Thera-bands (large elastic bands essentially) and broomsticks – yes broomsticks!
The tutors will also be available to discuss other topics like:
- Bowling workloads
- Diet, nutrition, hydration
- Speed, Agility, Quickness, Running Technique and Plyometrics
- Fitness Testing
However we would like to dedicate specific workshops to these in the future, as they are ‘meaty' topics in themselves.
We do see a cost (in order to get the specialist coaches in and also cover any costs of facilities) to attend of:
- £5 per person (NCU / NWCU CICA Members) or £8 per person (NCU / NWCU Non-CICA-Members)
- €7 per person (LCU / MCU CICA Members) or €10 per person (LCU / MCU Non-CICA-Members)
If you are keen to attend, please reply back as soon as possible with Your Name; a Yes or No; and which Cricket Union you most regularly coach in e.g. Joe Bloggs; Yes; LCU - as we are looking to find out if there is interest in running a workshop like this in your Union and other ones in the future.
